No. You can convert and download without signing up. An account is handy if you want to find old conversions later. Occasionally a tool is limited to signed-in users, and its page will tell you.

Nothing. Every tool is free within its daily allowance, which is shown on the tool page. There are no subscriptions or hidden fees.

We keep them privately, use them only for your conversion, and delete them automatically after a short retention period. Download links are private and stop working after a few minutes. You can also delete them yourself at any time.

The page will tell you what went wrong. If it was a temporary problem, there's a button to try again. If it keeps failing, contact us and tell us which tool you used.

Usually because it isn't quite what its name says (a JPEG renamed to .png, for example), it's damaged or password-protected, or it's bigger than the tool's limits. The message on the page says which one.

Only if you have the right to. Please don't use the service for books or recordings you don't own. Our acceptable use and copyright policies have the details.

JPEG and BMP can't store transparency, so transparent areas must be filled with a colour. Where supported, you can pick the background colour before converting.

Only if the output format supports animation (WEBP or GIF) and the tool currently offers animation preservation. The result screen states whether the animation was preserved.

Yes. They are two names for the same format. We accept both file extensions.
