AVIF offers excellent compression but support in editors, CMSs and older devices is still patchy. JPG opens everywhere.

About this conversion
AVIF
AV1-based image format with very efficient compression, transparency, and wide colour / HDR support.
JPEG
Lossy format designed for photographs. Small files, universal support, but no transparency.
Limitations and things to know
JPG does not support transparency. Transparent areas of your AVIF will be filled with a background colour (white by default, or the colour you choose if the option is offered).
JPG cannot store animation. If your AVIF is animated, only one frame (normally the first) is converted unless the service offers frame selection.
JPG uses lossy compression. Fine detail and sharp text may show slight artefacts; keep your original if you need a lossless copy.
AVIF can store HDR and wide-gamut colour. Converting to a standard-range format maps colours into sRGB, so very saturated or bright areas may look slightly different.
Metadata such as EXIF camera data and colour profiles may be removed or converted for privacy and compatibility.
Size, page, duration and dimension limits are shown in the converter above and checked again by our server.
AVIF to JPG: common questions
Will converting AVIF to JPG reduce quality?
JPG is lossy, so there is a small, usually invisible, loss of detail. Results depend on the image content.
Is my AVIF file checked before conversion?
Yes. We inspect the file's contents, not just its name, and the server verifies it again before converting. Renamed files that are not really AVIF are rejected.
What happens to transparency?
JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with a solid background colour.
What if my AVIF is animated?
JPG is a still-image format, so a single frame is exported. If frame selection is offered you can choose which one.
